A Saiy-jin Sweetie
By Sherilyn Moreton
Chapter 1
Vegeta rubbed his eyes, and stretched. He glanced beside him, and noticed that Bulma hadn't even gotten
up yet. She was usually up at the crack of dawn! That's odd, He thought to himself and got up to make
breakfast for a change. Bulma had managed to teach him
how to cook a few things properly, and he was amazingly good at it. He just had no patience.
Vegeta hummed quietly to himself as he cracked eggs into the frying pan. He wondered how Goku and Chi-chi were doing. Gohan was growing up to be quite a strong young man. As if on cue of thinking of them, the phone rang. It was Chi-chi.
"Hello, Vegeta! How are you this lovely morning?" she asked, sounding unusually chipper.
"I am fine, how are you?" he asked cautiously. He was scared of her attitude. Shouldn't she be groggy from
the missed sleep she was getting? It was very weird for Chi-chi.
"I am doing just fine. Do you think I could talk to Bulma for just a second?" she asked.
"Sorry Chi-chi, she's still asleep." He replied. A hand appeared and snatched the phone.
"No, I'm awake now!" Bulma said, she kissed Vegeta on the nose and left the room with the phone to talk to Chi-chi. Now, he was scared.
Later that afternoon, Bulma had fallen asleep on the couch, and wouldn't wake up when Vegeta shook her. He
didn't want to shake her too hard; he might have rendered her unconscious! She woke up at around ten PM, only proceeding to go up
to bed, after sleeping the whole day.
"She needs to be checked out…" Vegeta thought to himself as he shut his eyes and fell asleep to the sound of Bulma's soft breathing.
Chapter 2
The doctor had examined Bulma for about ten minutes and had already come up with an answer to their
problems.
"Mr. Vegeta, your wife Bulma here, is pregnant." He said, and left the two alone in the room.
Vegeta stood in his spot, wide eyed. Bulma leapt off the examination table and flung her arms around
Vegeta's neck.
"Isn't this so great! We're going to be parents!" she cried excitedly. He wasn't all that happy, but then he saw the look on her face and it totally flipped his heart around. He loved her so much; he would do anything for her.
He did nothing but hug her back, being careful not to squish her with his strength, and simply said, "We sure are."
Bulma beamed.
When Bulma got home, the second she entered the room, she phoned Chi-chi with the good news.
Even though Vegeta was in the other room, he heard Chi-chi scream with excitement. He almost laughed.
Girls got so worked up over the smallest things. Then
he thought that being pregnant wasn't that small of a thing, and they had every right to be excited.
He smiled. He knew he'd never admit it, but he was excited. He began to think of all the things that he
could teach their child, whether it was a girl or a boy. He then remembered the fact that he was
Saiy-jin. Would their child be Saiy-jin too? Chi-chi wasn't one and Gohan was. He would have to wait a whole nine
months to find out.
Three months into her pregnancy, Bulma found herself knitting blankets and booties, and all sorts of things. Vegeta was being more caring then ever. She was beginning to be more and more tired, so he learned how to cook with the help of Chi-chi, who visited often.
"Vegeta, can I ask you something?" Chi-chi asked one evening when she was helping him cook dinner. Bulma
was asleep on the couch.
"Yeah, sure." He replied, while stirring noodles in a large simmering pot.
"What do you want the baby to be?" she asked.
"Human." He replied. He had not meant it to be funny, but it was, and Chi-chi laughed.
"No, girl or a boy?" she asked.
"I would prefer a boy, I know all men probably prefer boys, so they can teach them to follow them." He replied, not really thinking. Chi-chi was speechless. She'd never heard Vegeta talk this way before.
"You want him to be Saiy-jin, too, don't you?" she asked quietly.
"He will be. Gohan was." He replied.
"I suppose you are right. Dinner's almost ready, I'll go wake Bulma up." She said, putting down the towel
she had been drying the dishes with and rushed out of the room.
'Strange woman…' Vegeta thought to himself and set the
table. Bulma wandered into the room, and looked to see what the two had been slaving over the stove for.
"Wow, it looks good," Bulma remarked, reaching for a fork to test it with. Vegeta swatted her hand away.
"Go sit, it will be ready in a second." He replied and shooed her out of the room.
"Give me lots, I'm so hungry I could eat a horse." She said and went to sit down.
Chapter 3
Three months later, when Bulma had been asleep for awhile, Vegeta silently got up and went out on the balcony to look at the stars. He thought of the baby and his stomach fluttered with excitement. He only had three more months to wait…
The next morning, Bulma waddled down the stairs to breakfast. She seemed not in the best of moods, and she had every right not to. She'd been sick all morning and Vegeta stuck by her the whole time.
"Hello, beautiful, how are you feeling now?" Vegeta asked her, giving her a small hug. She shook her head
slightly.
"I'm okay, I guess. Did Chi-chi call?" Bulma asked, sitting in a chair.
"No, was she supposed to?" He asked, going to sit across from her. He was hungry, but that would have to
wait. His wife was more important than food.
"I'll go call her now." She said quietly and went up the stairs to her room to use that phone.
"Strange, I wonder what's wrong?" Vegeta said quietly to himself. He got something to eat and went to watch TV. He couldn't leave Bulma by herself. She was acting too odd for him to leave her today. He was just too overprotective. She was fine that day, and as well for the next three months…
Chapter 4
"Vegeta!" Bulma cried, half running into the room. He looked up immediately.
"What is it?!" he asked quickly, jumping up.
"It's time! We have to get to the hospital quickly!" she cried, jumping up and down slightly, showing she needed to go. He helped her out to the car and drove it to the hospital, nearly getting them into an accident, and a ticket, but they arrived in time. Bulma was rushed off to the delivery room, while Vegeta followed closely behind.
Hours of screaming later, a tear stained Bulma and a nervous wreck of a Vegeta became parents to a sweet
baby boy. He was healthy and adorable, and to Vegeta's excitement, had a tail!
"He's Saiy-jin!" Vegeta cried, squeezing Bulma's hand. She smiled. She was wiped out.
The doctors cleaned up the wriggling mass of baby and handed him to Bulma. He had stopped crying, and looked
up at his parents with bright blue eyes. He had lavender fuzz for hair, and a tiny tail, which
twitched every few seconds. Bulma smiled at her son. She stroked his lavender hair and looked up at Vegeta.
"Do you want to hold him?" she asked. He considered, then shrugged and reached out towards the child.
"What do you want to name him?" Bulma asked, noticing that the baby wasn't crying with Vegeta.
"What shall we name him?" he asked, looking down at her. She beamed. He leaned over and kissed her
forehead.
"Well done, honey." He whispered and handed the baby back to her.
