A Husband's Love

                                      by Ayame

It had been three weeks, three weeks and two days to be more precise, since she died.  The world to Vegitta, his reason to be on this world ; Bulma.

It seemed like only yesterday. He had held her in his arms, holding her, comforting her, loving her.  She had died in a car accident, a drunk driver had been going to fast. Vegitta could still see the blood falling off her as he hurried her to the hospital. She died, him holding her hand, trying to numb the pain in his aching heart.

The monitors and screens were turned off and the doctors told him that there was nothing they could do. All of them left the room to leave him to think, with the body of his wife, his love, his...Bulma.

A single tear rolled down his cheek as he slowly touched the side of her pale face. As he pulled her limp body to his chest, more tears came. He rubbed her hair, knowing this would be their last embrace.

A hand touched his shoulder and he saw the face of Kakarott, or as the humans liked to call him, Goku. Vegitta could see tears swelling up in the fellow Sayjin's eyes.

"I'm sorry Vegitta. I know that can't change anything, but I am truly very sorry." he said, with his most heart filled voice.

Vegitta laid Bulma's body back down and wiped a tear away.

"I was to late, I could have got there faster, then she would have survived." Vegitta slowly said, trying to keep his voice calm.

Goku grabbed both of the Sayjin Prince's shoulders and forced him to look him in the face. "Don't blame yourself for Bulma's death, you did everything you could."

Vegitta pushed Gokus hands off his shoulders and another tear fell to the ground. As he stared at the other Sayjin, he felt something in him burst. Like all this emotions poured out.

"I loved her more than anything, I still do. I will feel guilty for her death as long as I am alive."

Goku could see the hurt and pain in his friends eyes, knowing that from now on, Vegitta would be different. They all would.

"I understand Vegitta, but it wasn't your fault."

Vegitta had wiped all the tears away and had closed his eyes to hide anymore from coming. He crossed his arms and tried to keep a strong face as he opened his eyes, and looked at Goku. He hated showing emotion in front of Kakarott, and he tried his best to hide it.

"I will leave you alone for a few minutes ." Goku said, turning and walking out of the hospital room. As he walked out he saw the two eyes of his wife staring into his.

Chi Chi could tell by the look in her husbands eyes that her best friend Bulma, was gone. She brushed away tears with her hands but could not stop them from coming. She felt the strong, but gentle arms of her husband pull her closer and cried on his shirt.

"It will be all right." he whispered and kissed her on the forehead. As she cried, Goku could really understand the pain Vegitta was going through. If Goku had ever lost Chi Chi, he would hate himself for letting it happen. A tear fell from his eye as he closed them.

Vegitta examined Bulma's face. She was pale from losing so much blood. He allowed tears to fall as he slowly bent down to kiss the cheek of his lost love.

"Stupid woman. I love you more than you could ever imagine." he whispered, knowing she could not hear him, but felt like it needed to be said. He stroked his hand through her hair and started to sob quietly by her side.

Vegitta awoke from the dream of the day of Bulma's death a few weeks ago. He looked around and saw he was in his room at Capsule Corp. He got out of his bed and walked out of his room, and started to wind down halls in the big house. He stopped at a door and slowly opened it. His son, Trunks lay asleep on his bed. Walking over he saw the picture of the day they had all gone to the amusement park. Bulma was smiling and Vegitta could feel his heart
squeeze in pain. Turning away from the picture he placed a hand on Trunks head, lightly.

"Your mother may be gone, but I will be here.....always." he whispered and slowly left the room. Before he closed the door, he smiled.

     "I love you Trunks."

Then, the soft voice of a little boy spoke. "I love you too, Dad."

Vegitta looked at his son as he sat up and turned toward his father. Vegitta did his best to smile and walked back over to Trunks. He didn't say anything as he sat down next to the little boy and put his hand on his head.  A few tears fell from the little boy's eyes.

"I miss Mom." The child said.

Vegitta gently wiped some tears from Trunks face. He looked at he boy's eyes, the blue eyes he got from his mother. "I do too Trunks. But she will always be with us."

Trunks didn't totally understand, but he didn't care. He hugged his father tightly and started to cry on Vegitta's shirt.

The Prince just hugged back, felling pain in his heart once more.  He remembered what had happened at the funeral, and how horrible it was.

The funeral was painful for everyone, but Vegitta, was feeling the most.

Everyone had shown up, but none of them were there usual self. Goten stood by Trunks, being a friend at this time of need. Goku and Chi Chi were putting flowers on the casket.

Vegitta stood away from everyone, not moving his eyes off the, now lowering, casket. a few minutes passed, and a few people started to leave.  Soon, Only Vegitta, Trunks and Goku remained. Goku walked up to the Prince, knowing he was just going to tell him to leave him alone. But, he didn't.

"Thank you." Vegitta said to, a slightly shocked Goku.

     "For what?"

"Being a....friend." Vegitta looked at the other Sayjin, but quickly looked back away.

Goku half-smiled and looked over at Trunks. "I can take Trunks to my house for a few days, if that is alright. He might feel a little better if he's around Goten."

Vegitta just nodded and Goku turned to the small boy. "Come on Trunks." He said, holding out his hand.

Trunks, wiping away tears reached up for Goku's hand, and looked at his father. Vegitta, feeling him look at him, looked back. They stared at each other for a second, and then Trunks walked off with Goku.

A few minutes pasted and Vegitta walked over to where they laid Bulma to rest. As he looked down, he felt someone's 'ki' near. He looked up to see the scarred face of Bulma's old boyfriend.

"Hey Vegitta." Yumcha said with a slightly  breaking voice.

Vegitta stared at the human, and could see, he was upset.

Yumcha stared back at the Sayjin who had married Bulma, and knew that this was a little bit of a weird situation. He knew that Vegitta probably hated his guts, but he had just wanted to say hello.

"I'm sorry. I'll go." Yumcha said, turning around.

      "No, don't."

Yumcha turned around at Vegitta. "Nani?'

"You heard me, baka. You have a right to be here. Just because of a bad past doesn't mean you have to leave."

Yumcha was surprised. Vegitta had always hated having him around.

Vegitta looked down and saw Yumcha had some flowers. He just walked over to the still shocked Yumcha and smiled slightly. "You're a good man. But a weak fighter." And Vegitta walked off.

Yumcha stood silently for a few minutes, then walked over to the tombstone of Bulma. he knelt down and put the flowers down next to it. "I'm sorry, Bulma. I'm sorry for being such a jerk all those times." A tear rolled down his cheek as Yumcha stood up. He walked off and it started to rain gently on all the flowers that now surrounded the place were Bulma lay.
