       The Measure of a Word
                                                                        by Suzanne Wolford

Vegeta lay in bed unable to sleep. He turned over to Bulma, who had her back to him.
He scoped her up onto one of his strong arms and kissed her lightly on the forehead. Vegeta propped himself up on his free arm. He carefully stroked  her hair away from her face.  The light of the moon seemed to make her  features more defent, more appealing to him. It seemed to some how make her even more beautiful then she already was.

"Why have I been given such a wonderful gift?" he asked himself mentally.

Bulma pulled her knees half way up to her chest.  Vegeta  brushed her hair away from her neck as he gently began kissing the newly revealed skin. A smile appeared on her face as  as her eyes slowly opened. She turned  into him and looked up at him to see his eyes staring down into hers.

"I love you, Vegeta." Bulma spoke softly.

A hush fell over the room and remained silent until Bulma spoke again. "Why don't you tell me that you love me?" Bulma asked.

"Because," Vegeta began, "those words have definitions, have limits. But, what I have inside , what I feel for you  has no limits, no definition......  you have melted a heart of ice, softened a heart of stone... But if it is want you want to hear...well then, I love you more than words could explain. I love you ,Bulma "

Vegeta realized that Bulma was shaking, her body trembled. She was crying.

"Why?"Vegeta questioned as he tightly wrapped his arms around her doing his best to comfort her.

"Do you know how long I have waited to hear those  words to escape your lips?" Bulma said as her voice choked in throat.

He kissed her as Bulma wrapped her arms around Vegeta as she kissed him back. There they lay until they both had fallen asleep in each other arms.
