Dreaming of You

                                    A story by Daji

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Late at night when all the world is sleeping
I stay up and dream of you
And I wish on a star
That somewhere you are
Dreaming of me too…

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

They argued again, but this time it was worse than their usual verbal sparring. The argument started the same way as all their arguments do, with Vegita annoying the hell out of Buluma while she's trying to work. Then it escalates with her going on one of her verbal tirades and throwing something at Vegita and missing as usual.

But today was weird, and no one could figure out why.

Normally after Vegita leaves her lab, Buluma would return her attention to whatever she was working on. Today would be an exception.

After Vegita walked out of the lab, Buluma shut off her computer went to her room to get her jacket then left the house slamming the door behind her.

There was a terrible thunderstorm at the moment, so she didn't bother taking her air car. She rummaged through her jacket pocket trying to find her other set of keys. When she found them, Buluma got in her car and drove away as fast as she could.

Buluma's mother knew something was bothering her daughter if she was willing to go out during a storm. She looked down at Trunks, who was sitting by the window reading. "Something must be bothering her if she's willing to go out during a thunderstorm," she looked towards the workout room. "She must still be upset about that argument. I hope she's alright," Buluma's mother thought, as she became more concerned.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cause I'm dreaming of you tonight
'Til tomorrow I'll be holding you tight
And there's no place in the world I'd rather be
Than here in my room dreaming of you and me…

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Buluma drove around not caring where she was. She looked at the clock in the car and saw it was after three and she hadn't eaten, so she drove to her favorite restaurant.

Feeling a little better, Buluma got back in her car and drove to the Son house so she could talk to Chichi.

After a long talk with her friend, Buluma felt better and decided to go back home.

"Thanks Chichi," She waved as she left the house.

"I hope things work out for you and Vegita, Buluma," Chichi said standing under the porch trying hard not to get wet.

"I hope so too. I don't want this relationship to end on a sour note like the last one." She smiled and got in her car and drove away. "Shoot, I should've called home while I was at Chichi's," she said out loud. "Oh well, I can just use my car phone," and smiled as she dialed home.

"Buluma-chan, what happened? Where are you? We've been worried about you since you left…"

"I'm fine mom. I just needed to get away for a while, so I've been at Chichi's house talking."

"Ok, Buluma-chan. Can I expect you for dinner?" she asks sweetly.

Buluma sighs, "Yes. I'll be home in twenty minuets. Bye," she turns off the small phone and continues to drive through the rain.

As she continued down the road, Buluma saw another car coming toward her but thought nothing of it since the road she was on had two lanes and she was in her correct lane. What she didn't know was that the driver of the other car not to mention his passengers was extremely drunk. She kept going along the road and ignored the other car. Suddenly she saw that the other car was weaving dangerously. When she realized she was in danger it was too late for her to react.

The front right side of Buluma's car was struck with such force that it flipped several times before slamming the driver's side into a tree. Buluma was badly hurt.

Severely Bleeding and on the brink of blacking out, the one thing she thought of was her six-year old son and her husband.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I wonder if you ever see me and I wonder if you know I'm there
If you looked in my eyes would you see what's inside
Would you even care…?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was late, a good two hours past when Buluma said she'd be back. Buluma's mother began to worry.

"Trunks-kun, has your mother called?"

Trunks yawned and shook his head. "No Obaasaan."

She smiled weakly at her grandson. "Why don't you go to bed, you have school in the morning."

Trunks hopped off the couch and went to his room. Buluma's mother began to worry more as she stood by the window watching for her daughter. "Buluma-chan, where are you?" she whispered.

Vegita was still in his gravity chamber trying to calm himself down after his argument with Buluma. He didn't even bother to come out to eat dinner, which really worried Buluma's mother.

She gingerly knocked on the door. "Vegita-san, I need to talk to you. It's important."

Reluctantly Vegita shut off the gravity machine and opened the door. "What do you want?" he scowled. He noticed she looked really worried, something Buluma's mother seldom is.

"What's wrong?"

She sighed, "I'm worried about Buluma. She hasn't come home yet."

Vegita raised an eyebrow. Surprised, "Buluma's not here?"

Buluma's mother shook her head. "No, she stormed out of the house after the argument."

Vegita started to worry a bit now because this was not like Buluma's normal behavior. "Has she called?"

She started wringing her hands showing how worried she was at that moment. "She did call to tell me she was on her way home, but that was almost four hours ago."

"Where was she when she called?"

"She was leaving the Son House."

Vegita was about to go out the door and look for Buluma when the phone rang.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just want to hold you close but so far
All I have are dreams of you
So I wait for the day
To have the courage to say
I love you…

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The police officer that called told Buluma's mother there had been a terrible accident on Old Mountain road. Buluma's mother fell into hysterics at this news.

Vegita took the phone out of her hand and got the information from the officer on the phone. The officer told him that Buluma was rushed to the hospital, but was in very serious condition.

Vegita rushed to the hospital to find out he was too late. Buluma died one minuet before he reached the hospital. He asked to see her body because there was something he had to put to rest.

The nurse took him to the room where the doctors were working on her. Vegita stared at Buluma's lifeless body lying on the table then slowly approached it. To him Buluma looked if she was asleep. At that moment he wished he were asleep so he could wake from this horrible nightmare.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Late at night when all the world is sleeping
I stay up and think of you
And I still can't believe
That you came up to me
And said I love you…

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The doctors told him the last thing she said was "I love you my dear Vegita." Those words echoed in his head the entire night. Of the few years they were together, she had never admitted to loving him. Her pride wouldn't allow it, nor would his pride allow him to admit his love for Buluma.

Vegita lay there thinking about Buluma wishing he could go back and stop her from leaving the house or even stopping the argument they had that day. He reached over and put his hand on her pillow thinking she still there and wanted to touch her soft hair. Wanting to reach out and caress her soft body, but she isn't there now nor will she ever be again, so he began to cry to himself.

"You've realized what you've lost…" a soft, familiar voice called to him in from darkness of the room.

"B-Buluma?" he stammered.

"Hai,"

"I thought you were…"

"…Dead. No, I'm not dead. This…All of this was just a dream," she said as she sat on the bed next to him.

"Nani, a dream?"

Buluma put her hand on his cheek and smiled. "Everyone has some sort of fear and must eventually face it, even if it is only in a dream. I guess your deepest unknown fear is losing me." She turned toward the window and sighed. "I have the same fear about losing you," she whispered. She stood from the bed and walked into the shadows. "Remember, this was just a dream Vegita, but sometimes dreams have a strange way of coming true," she said as she disappeared into the darkness of the night.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vegita's head shot up off his pillow as the remnants of the dream faded away. He looked to his side and say Buluma was curled up under the blankets fast asleep.

"It was just a dream," he murmurs trying to reassure him. "Only a dream…" He reaches over and touches her soft lavender hair. He smiles as she mumbles something and shifts sides.

"Aishiteru, Buluma-chan. Honto," he whispers as he drifts back to sleep himself

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now I'm dreaming with you tonight
'Til tomorrow I'll be holding you tight
And there's no place I'd rather be
Than here in my room
Dreaming with you
Endlessly…
